Record all (or at least larger) lectures and make them available online for people with nethz account. This would be useful for students, to catch up with lectures, for internal quality control, to foster interdisciplinary studies or taking of time-conflicting lectures.

Jeder Platz bekommt einen Schalter mit ~4 Knöpfen, um anonym auf Fragen wie “Wer hats noch nicht verstanden?”, “Wer möchte weiter auf dieses Thema eingehen?” zu antworten oder um bei kurzen Multiple Choice-Aufgaben zur Standortbestimmung der Studenten teilzunehmen. Die Antworten können dann direkt per Beamer graphisch dargestellt und ausgewertet werden.

Als Unterrichtssprache sollte Englisch erlaubt sein. Falls der Professor nicht Deutsch als Muttersprache spricht.

Ein Dozent könnte die Nächste grosse Formel oder ein wichtiges Stichwort beidseitig auf ein Kleidungsstück (T-Shirt) drucken und während, als auch neben der Vorlesung tragen. Das macht zwar einen merkwürdigen Einduck auf die Studenten, hat jedoch grossen Wiedererkennungswert.

Einsatzgebiet: Mittel- sowie Hochschulen; überall wo frontalunterricht betrieben wird.

Viele Professoren sind zwar begnadete Forscher aber sehr schlecht in der Lehre. Ein krasser Ansatz wäre es, Lehre und Forschung zu trennen. Obwohl der Vorschlag sehr radikal ist, sehe ich sehr grosse Vorteile darin. Die Dozenten wären dann motivierte Lehrer, und nicht Forscher, die die Lehre als Anhängsel sehen. Sie hätten viel mehr Zeit um didaktisch gute Stunden und Skripte vorzubereiten, weil dies ein grosser Teil Ihrer Aufgabe wäre. Es nützt den Studenten wirklich NICHTS, wenn sie einen Professor mit Nobelpreis haben, der nicht imstande ist etwas für die Studenten anschaulich zu erklären. Vor allem in den Bachelorprogrammen finde ich es sehr schlimm, wenn die Lehre so schwach ist.

The idea is to have an online calendar where the seminars/talks from various departments at ETH are announced. The calendar will also include any special talks/events organised by ETH. It can be extended to announce lab visits or open day or exhibitions happening at ETH. It will also act as a central platform for publicizing the events or talks organized by lecturers to a much wider audience.

Consider a situation where a student has free time, then he/she can just go to this calendar and check if their is any interesting talk/exhibition going on at that moment at ETH and attend it. It will help students to increase their general awareness about various research activities happening at ETH. It will also inculcate interest of students in interdisciplinary research and widen their horizons about stimulating research and discoveries in various disciplines.

The calendar can also serve as a mailing list for students, customised based on their interests. they would be able to subscribe about notification of events based on keywords. In summary, it will be a central place where any student can go and browse various activities as compared to browsing through websites of all departments. It will essentially save a lot of time and effort. Furthermore, it will have an information if their is a free apero after the event ??

Eine Summerschool (oder Winterschool) an der ETH – allenfalls im Rahmen des IARU Programms, in welchem die Teilnehmenden lernen ein app zu programmieren, zu designen und zu vermarkten.
