Die nun vorgestellte Idee soll helfen, den Übungsbetrieb effektiver zu gestalten. Mithilfe von Verständnisfragen in kurzen Online-Tests (Bearbeitungsdauer etwa 30 – 45 Minuten) könnte künftig wenige Tage vor dem Erstellen einer Serie geprüft werden, welche Konzepte die Studenten bereits verstanden haben und bei welchen Punkten es noch zusätzlichen Übungsbedarf gibt. Damit lassen sich die auf den Online-Test folgenden Übungsserien noch besser auf den Bedarf der Studenten ausrichten. Damit diese Online-Tests und die Nachbesprechung nicht zu viel Zeit in den Übungsstunden binden, sollte es hierzu eine allgemeine schriftliche gruppenübergreifende Nachbesprechung z.B. auf der Vorlesungshomepage geben, in der auf die am weitesten verbreiteten Fehlerquellen eingegangen wird, um den Studenten zu helfen, diese in Zukunft zu vermeiden. Diese Veränderung wird den Studenten mehr Unterstützung beim Erlernen des Stoffes und Feedback über Ihre Leistungen geben und damit den Lerneffekt intensivieren.

When we have too much material to review for the exams, we could lose our focus. Don’t try to let the student to remember everything, it’s impossible and unreasonable. When the we are caught by full of details, we will lost my direction.
Moreover, if the teachers don’t include the content in the exam the students will simply skip them. So it’s much better to cover all the material in the exams or directly delete the content which will not appear in the exam. And then the lecturers will have time to repeat and illustrate thoroughly the most important things. And the students will have more time to think instead of to remember.

Collecting exam data

I would start collecting data about the exam performances. Clearly in an anonymous way. Every session there thousend of students who takes exams this means a lot of data that could be used to improve how exams are done/scheduled/…

For example one might believe that having 5 math exams (on consecutive days) and then 5 biology exams (on consecutive days) is much harder than having one math and one biology exam alternated. Or you could see that those lessons that are schedules on Friday morning have higher failure rates because students go out on Thursday night. Once you have the data there are lots of questions that you can try to answer.
